1 General provisions
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern the relationship between the VinStatus service (the "Service", "we", "us") and any user (the "User", "you") who visits vinstatus.store or uses the services we provide.
By using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to comply with these Terms in full. If you disagree with even one provision, do not use the Service.
The Terms are legally binding from the moment of your first visit to the site or payment for any service.
2 Service description
VinStatus provides online access to vehicle history reports based on their 17-character identification number (VIN). Reports are produced by aggregating data from open government sources, commercial vehicle databases, and auction archives.
The Service includes the following features:
- Generation of reports in HTML and PDF formats with email delivery;
- Storage of reports in your account for 30 days from generation;
- Access to extended data (auction photos, mileage history, recall campaigns) with an active subscription;
- User support by email.
3 Account and registration
An account is created automatically after the first successful payment. An email with login details (address and a temporary password) is sent to the email provided at payment.
- The User must provide a valid email address to which they have ongoing access at registration;
- The User is fully responsible for the confidentiality of their password and for all actions performed within their account;
- Transferring the account to third parties is not allowed without the Service's written consent;
- If the account is compromised, the User must notify us immediately at info@vinstatus.store.
4 Payment and subscription
All payments are processed through the secure Stripe system. The Service does not receive or store users' payment card data.
- Service prices and subscription terms are shown on the Pricing page and confirmed at checkout;
- By paying for a service, the User authorizes the charge of the stated amount to their payment method;
- An electronic receipt is sent to the User's email immediately after a successful transaction;
- In a disputed situation (double charge, erroneous payment), contact support before opening a chargeback with your bank.
5 Trial period and auto-renewal
The Service may offer a trial period on preferential terms. The trial terms are disclosed on the payment page before the transaction is confirmed:
- The trial is activated after the first payment of the set fee (e.g. $0.99);
- At the end of the trial period, the subscription automatically renews at the full monthly price unless the User has cancelled it earlier;
- The User may cancel the subscription at any time during the trial period — in which case no further charges will be made;
- Each User is entitled to only one trial. Fraud-monitoring systems may refuse repeated trial activation for the same card, email, or IP.
The full trial and auto-renewal terms are reflected in the consent checkbox at payment — we recommend reading it carefully before confirming the transaction.
6 Cancelling the subscription
The subscription can be cancelled at any time in the following ways:
- Via your account — the "Subscription" section → "Cancel subscription";
- By email to info@vinstatus.store with your account email;
- Via the contact form.
After cancellation, access to the Service remains until the end of the paid period. Further automatic charges stop. Payments already made are non-refundable, except in the cases described in the Refund Policy.
7 Data sources and accuracy
The information in reports is based on data obtained from third parties — official and commercial sources: NHTSA, EPA, MarketCheck, the Copart and IAAI auction platforms, government registries, and others. The Service acts as an aggregator and is not responsible for the completeness or accuracy of information obtained from these sources.
- Data is provided "as is", without express or implied warranties;
- The volume of available information depends on the specific VIN and the vehicle's country of registration;
- The absence of records on accidents, mileage, or auction sales in a report does not mean such events did not occur — it only means there are no confirming records in the connected databases;
- The Service regularly updates its sources but does not guarantee that data is synchronized in real time.
8 Limitation of liability
VinStatus reports are an informational tool and cannot be the sole basis for a decision to buy or sell a vehicle. The User assumes all risks associated with using the information in the reports.
- The Service is not liable for any financial, reputational, or other losses incurred by the User as a result of decisions made based on the reports;
- The Service is not liable for temporary site outages caused by maintenance, third-party actions, or force majeure;
- Before concluding a deal, we recommend an independent technical inspection of the vehicle and a legal-status check with the government authorities of the country of registration;
- The Service's aggregate liability to the User shall under no circumstances exceed the amount actually paid by the User for the service in the last 12 months.
9 Intellectual property
All Service materials — site design, logos, texts, software code, and report format — are the intellectual property of VinStatus and are protected by copyright law.
- The User is granted the right to use the obtained reports solely for personal, non-commercial purposes;
- Copying, republishing, transferring to third parties, or commercial use of the Service's content without written permission is prohibited;
- Using a report when buying/selling a vehicle to provide it to a potential buyer or seller is permitted.
10 Prohibited actions
When using the Service, the following is prohibited:
- Using automated tools (bots, parsers, scrapers) for mass data extraction;
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or to the server infrastructure;
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or obtain multiple trial periods;
- Using reports for unlawful purposes, including to facilitate fraud in vehicle sales;
- Distributing the obtained reports on a commercial basis or embedding them in third-party services.
In case of a breach of these rules, the Service may block the account without a refund and take other measures provided by law.
11 Termination of services
The Service reserves the right at any time to:
- Suspend or terminate the User's access to the account in case of a breach of these Terms;
- Modify, temporarily suspend, or discontinue individual features of the Service;
- Refuse service based on internal security and fraud-monitoring rules.
The User may delete their account at any time by sending a request to info@vinstatus.store.
12 Changes to the terms
The Service may amend these Terms at its discretion. The current version is always available on this page. We notify users of material changes affecting their rights by email or via an account notification at least 14 days before they take effect.
Continued use of the Service after a new version is published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
